FAQ

Questions worth answering clearly.

The public model should be understandable without exposing private partner information or proprietary operating mechanics.

Venture building

A venture builder helps create companies by combining early venture judgment with hands-on operating capability. Rather than only investing or delivering a fixed brief, a venture builder can help validate an opportunity, shape product and commercial direction, and build when evidence supports deeper commitment.

The terms venture builder, venture studio and startup studio are often used interchangeably. All can combine company creation with operating support and, sometimes, investment. Blank Foundry uses venture builder because our role centres on venture judgment and hands-on building with founders and established businesses rather than a fixed studio programme.

Corporate venture building turns advantages already inside an established organisation—such as customers, data, distribution, technology or domain expertise—into tested opportunities for new businesses. The work should determine whether the opportunity belongs in the core, should be built internally or deserves a dedicated venture.

About Blank Foundry

Blank Foundry is an independent venture builder and investor focused on B2B technology. We work with founders and established businesses to validate opportunities, build product when evidence supports it and decide whether deeper commitment is justified.

Much of our work begins with commercially sensitive opportunities and ventures that are not ready for disclosure. We do not use private partner information as marketing content. Instead, we make our approach, standards and decision frameworks visible.

A software agency is primarily paid to deliver scope. Blank Foundry starts with the venture decision: should this exist, who is the buyer, what evidence matters, what should be built next and when should the team stop?

Founders

We are most useful before scale, when the problem and founder advantage may be clearer than the final product. You do not need a finished MVP. You do need a credible problem, customer access and a reason you are unusually well positioned to pursue it.

Not necessarily. Customer access and evidence matter more than a specific revenue milestone. Useful evidence can include workflow observations, interviews, pilots, prototype use, signed interest, revenue or other behaviour that changes the venture decision.

We review the opportunity for fit. If there appears to be enough substance, the next conversation focuses on the problem, buyer, evidence, founder advantage and highest-risk assumptions.

Businesses

The aim is to determine whether the opportunity deserves more capital and organisational commitment. Outputs may include an opportunity thesis, customer evidence, commercial logic, product direction, venture architecture, risk map and a proceed / change / stop recommendation.

Yes. A useful decision can be not to build. Blank Foundry is structured around making the right venture decision rather than creating a development project.

IP ownership and usage rights are agreed clearly before build begins and matched to the intended operating model. We do not rely on ambiguity around ownership.

Investment

Our first contribution can be operating capability: venture judgment, customer discovery, product thinking, engineering and commercial execution. Where evidence and alignment become strong enough, the relationship can deepen economically.

No. Not every engagement becomes an investment and not every engagement requires equity. The structure depends on the opportunity, stage, contribution and depth of partnership.

No. We do not publish a standard percentage. Commercial and investment terms are discussed directly when relevant to a specific opportunity.

Confidentiality

No. Please do not submit passwords, customer secrets, trade secrets, sensitive personal information or confidential implementation details through public forms or the assistant.

We do not treat private partner information as marketing content. Any public disclosure would require an appropriate basis and agreement rather than being assumed from an initial conversation.
